Aim
- Course contents :
- This comprehensive training course has been designed by the University of Rennes 2 Centre de formation des traducteurs et terminologues and its language engineering research centre. It will cover the following areas :
- Defining or redefining translator training courses
- Updating information technology skills
- General and domain-specific translation
- Terminology and phraseology, terminotics (terminology and IT)
- Technical writing and documentation
- E-learning site design for translation and terminology
- Professionally oriented distance learning
- Aims :
- The programme is based on recognised professional needs analysis in the areas of translator training, innovative language training, and the inception, organisation and development of language industry markets :
- The course aims to help participants master all the STRATEGIES, METHODS, MODELS and TOOLS which are essential for the "language professional" and define the most relevant professional translation curriculum structures and contents
- The course aims to offer strategies and methods for the renovation of HE language programmes, particularly in the context of specialist business-oriented, technical or scientific programmes
TRANSLATION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (week 1)
- Contents :
- word-processing applied to terminology, translation, and teaching materials (data entry, on-line dictionaries, file management, file transfer, pre-publication materials, formatting macro-commands, outline mode and revision mode word processing, typeover translation, use of the Internet, mailing lists and list servers, etc.)
- Aim :
- to master all advanced word processing functions for professional use and translator training purposes.
SEMINAR – TRAINING OF TRANSLATOR TRAINERS (week 2)
- Aim :
- to undertake a comprehensive analysis of the problems encountered in translator trainer training – Tried and tested solutions.
WORKSHOPS in TERMINOLOGY – TRANSLATION – TECHNICAL WRITING (week 3)
- Aim :
- to offer a complete training session in crucial aspects of terminography and/or technical and domain-specific translation practise..
